DRUG ACTION WEEK - LIVE AND AWARE
On Friday 22nd June, Mirikai, one of Australia’s few residential drug rehabilitation services targeted at young people with a dual diagnosis will open its doors and its heart to the people of the Gold Coast.
As part of Drug Action Week, the Gold Coast Drug Council, known locally as ‘Mirikai’, in collaboration with other community services on the Gold Coast, is hosting ‘Live and Aware’.
‘Live and Aware’ will be an afternoon filled with great live music, graffiti and yoga demonstrations and information. There will be a free BBQ dinner, as well as refreshments and afternoon tea.
At ‘Live and ‘Aware’ you will find information about various drugs and their effects, mental health, and programs and services that help. Along with information stalls, entertainment and food, there will be speakers talking about various aspects of drug use: a young persons journey from addiction to recovery, a parents perspective, a psychologists view, and many others.
This event is absolutely free for anyone interested in coming along and learning more about drugs and mental health; and having a good time without the use of drugs and alcohol!
‘Live and Aware’ is being held at ‘Mirikai’ 191 West Burleigh Rd, West Burleigh and goes from 3pm till 6pm.
Drug Action Week is a National Campaign, supported by the Australian Drug Foundation. For more information see www.drugactionweek.org.au
